Ellora Stud

Ellora Thoroughbred Stud is a small thoroughbred breeding farm established in 2016 by Matthew and Claire Brown in Avenel, Victoria, at the heart of the state’s thoroughbred industry. The owners combine more than 20 years of breeding-farm experience with Claire’s background as an equine veterinarian, including a special interest in reproductive work and stud medicine. Their approach emphasizes personalized service, regular communication, and close attention to each client’s mares and foals.

The farm provides facilities for breeding mares and foaling, including purpose-built foaling yards, adjoining stables, quality pastures, and smaller paddocks for managing horses in groups. Services include foaling supervision, thoroughbred breeding support, and a walk-out transport service to nearby stallion farms. Ellora also offers foal handling and weaning, plus thoroughbred weanling sale preparation. Foals are assessed for conformation from an early age, with regular trimming and access to an experienced farrier when needed. The stud aims to support clients’ breeding plans while helping mares and foals receive attentive, professional care.
