Elokuvapäivä

Elokuvapäivä is a Turku-based city film festival that brings communities together through free screenings in distinctive locations. Held across Turku and the nearby cities of Kaarina and Raisio, the festival invites audiences to enjoy films from morning to evening, whether catching a recent release or revisiting a classic. Screenings are provided by participating organizers and are free to the public, making cinema accessible to a broad audience.

The festival’s program can transform places such as churches, libraries, cafés, and gardens into welcoming venues for shared film experiences. Visitors can attend screenings arranged by festival partners, while individuals and organizations are also encouraged to organize their own free screenings. Elokuvapäivä publishes program information and festival news, and works with local partners to create events throughout the region. The annual event attracts thousands of viewers and celebrates Turku’s identity as a film city. Elokuvapäivä was founded in 2015 by Elokuvakaupunki Turku ry and is coordinated by the Turku-based Linnateatteri yhdistys ry.
