Founded by Andrew Bernauer, an engineer with extensive experience in the distillation industry, the brand aims to preserve and celebrate the rich heritage of Raicilla while introducing its unique qualities to a global audience.
Nestled in the Sierra Madre Occidental, El Viaje collaborates with skilled Raicilleros, specifically the Salcedo Rios brothers, who bring generations of agricultural expertise to the spirit's production. The Raicilla is made from 100% Agave Maximiliana, ensuring a pure and unadulterated flavor profile that captures the essence of its mountainous terroir.
El Viaje honors traditional methods, employing techniques such as roasting the agave in adobe ovens and embracing a natural wild fermentation process, which contribute to the spirit's complex tasting notes of bright citrus and earthy undertones.
