Embark Studios

Embark Studios is a Stockholm-based games studio that aims to blur the line between playing and making games. They're committed to exploring and applying the latest technology, being transparent in their relationships, and allowing curiosity to drive them down unexpected paths. Embark Studios is actively involved in open-source work, pushing the boundaries of new technologies and sharing their learnings with the community.

Their featured open-source projects include "kajiya," an experimental real-time global illumination renderer written in Rust for both CPUs and GPUs. They also offer "physx-rs," a Rust binding and wrapper over NVIDIA PhysX, a popular and mature physics engine suitable for games.

Embark Studios proudly sponsors Blender and has released some of their day-to-day studio tools for game development, such as the "blender-tools" add-on and the "skyhook" game engine and DCC communication system.

Rust is the primary language at Embark Studios due to its safety, robustness, and collaborative community. They believe Rust, with its growing ecosystem and best-in-class package system, Cargo, is a language for the future.

Some of their Rust projects include "ash-molten," "breakpad-handler," "breakpad-sys," "buildkite-jobify," and many more. Embark Studios continues to contribute to the Rust ecosystem and is dedicated to creating an inclusive environment where everyone can participate and contribute to the future of game development.
