Die Emder Pflegegenossenschaft

Emder Pflegegenossenschaft für Ostfriesland eG is a nonprofit cooperative based in Emden, bringing together people who want to make ageing more independent, connected and supportive. It places the needs of people requiring care and those working in care at the heart of its mission, guided by the principle of mutual support. Members and volunteers can take part in neighbourly assistance and community activities, while the cooperative also provides everyday support funded by long-term care insurance.

Services include household help, shopping, errands, activities and accompaniment. The organisation hosts open meetings, talks, games afternoons, reading groups and digital advice, including help with the Hilver app. Its broader vision is to coordinate care, practical support and social connection around each person’s needs.

The cooperative aims to expand its assistance network and hopes to establish its own care service in the future, linking professional care workers with volunteer helpers. It is community-focused and nonprofit; any surpluses are reinvested in its work. Membership and donations help sustain its activities and plans
