Emerging Sprouts Forest School is an outdoor, child-led learning organization serving families in the East Bay since 2017. Its programs center on connection, safety, hands-on exploration, and social-emotional development, giving children room to learn through real play and their own questions. The Castro Valley campus is located on a 100-acre wooded farm in Crow Canyon, where students spend their time outdoors exploring nature, working together, and engaging with farm animals such as goats, chickens, and lambs. Children can also learn to grow food.
Programs serve toddlers, preschoolers, transition kindergarten and kindergarten students, as well as elementary-age children. Offerings include toddler-and-caregiver participation classes, a weekly participation preschool, TK and kindergarten afterschool programs, and Forest Scouts afterschool sessions for kindergarteners through fifth graders. Activities include creek play, walks, songs, shared snacks, nature exploration, and collaborative projects. Emerging Sprouts also lists parent-child classes and afterschool programs in Berkeley, along with afterschool and summer camp options in Cincinnati.
