EMODnet (European Marine Observation and Data Network) is a network of organizations supported by the EU's integrated maritime policy. Their goal is to provide rapid access to reliable and accurate marine data to address threats, develop policies, and foster sustainable economic development. By observing the sea and processing data according to international standards, EMODnet makes that information freely available as interoperable data layers and products.

EMODnet offers access to European marine data across seven discipline-based themes: Bathymetry, Biology, Chemistry, Geology, Human Activities, Physics, and Seabed Habitats. Through gateways, users can access standardized observations, data quality indicators, and processed data products.

More than 120 partner organizations are involved in EMODnet, and they continuously strive to increase the quantity and quality of available marine data. They also collaborate with other marine knowledge providers to create a common platform for marine data in Europe.

With this comprehensive marine data infrastructure, EMODnet facilitates marine spatial planning, improves forecasting capabilities, enhances efficiency for offshore operators, stimulates innovation, and benefits various sectors and communities.
