Empiria

Empiria Tulkkaus Oy is a Finnish interpreting and communication services company established in 2024 and based in Vahto, Southwest Finland. It supports people who are Deaf, deafblind, hard of hearing, late-deafened, or have speech disabilities, helping them participate in everyday situations and special occasions. Interpreting is primarily provided in Southwest Finland, Pirkanmaa, and Satakunta, with services available elsewhere in Finland and abroad when needed. The company has been a Kela contract partner for disability interpreting services in the Western area since January 2025.

Its services cover a broad range of communication methods, including Finnish Sign Language, signed speech, tactile and deafblind communication, speech-to-text, plain language, picture-based communication, Blissymbolics, and communication applications. Empiria also offers teaching, expert guidance, and communication coaching. Sessions can be tailored for individuals, families, groups, or workplaces, and may include sign communication instruction and adaptation training.

The company is led by interpreter and communication instructor Sari Pöhö, whose professional experience spans sign language, deafblind, and speech-disability interpreting.
