About Empowering Female Minds in STEM
Empowering Female Minds in STEM (EFeMS) is a registered non-profit organization founded in 2020 by Dr. Anna Ampaw. With a personal understanding of the challenges faced by women in STEM fields, Dr.
Ampaw established EFeMS to provide mentorship and professional development opportunities for African women in STEM. Based in Canada, EFeMS acknowledges the systemic exclusion and marginalization experienced by women in Africa pursuing STEM disciplines. EFeMS aims to address the gender disparity in STEM by offering initiatives such as the FeMS Bootcamp, Mentorship Program, and scholarships.
These initiatives provide African women with the necessary support and resources to succeed in STEM careers. By fostering mentorship, networking, and professional development, EFeMS empowers African women to pursue and excel in STEM fields, ultimately dismantling the entrenched gender disparity.
