About EMR Society
The Elizabeth Madox Roberts Society is an organization dedicated to promoting scholarship on the work of American writer Elizabeth Madox Roberts and encouraging the teaching of her literature. Based in connection with Roberts’ hometown of Springfield, Kentucky, the Society has hosted conferences there and nearby since 1999, bringing readers and scholars together to celebrate her life and explore her writing. Its biennial conference program includes calls for papers, awards, and past conference information.
The Society also organizes events that place Roberts’ work in a broader literary context. Its 27th biennial conference coincides with the centennial of The Time of Man and features a conference on twentieth-century Southern women writers. For researchers and readers, the website provides resources including a biography, family genealogy, a bibliography of Roberts’ works and related scholarship, and calls for papers.
