About EMVO
EMVO, the European Medicines Verification Organisation, is dedicated to ensuring the safety and authenticity of pharmaceutical products in Europe. With the increasing risk of falsified medicines entering the market, EMVO has taken on the responsibility of establishing and implementing the European Medicines Verification System (EMVS). This system, in accordance with the EU's Falsified Medicines Directive (FMD) and Delegated Regulation (DR), aims to create a secure, interoperable, and cost-effective system across the continent.
By uniting various stakeholders, including manufacturers, wholesalers, and community pharmacists, EMVO is committed to securing the legal supply chain and protecting patient health and safety. The organization has made significant progress in countering the threat of falsified medicines, ensuring that only prescription drugs with the new safety features are in circulation as of February 9, 2019.
