Enabling Life

Enabling Life is a Dallas–Fort Worth-based nonprofit focused on overdose prevention, awareness, and harm reduction. Its work centers on making life-saving resources more accessible while challenging the stigma and silence surrounding substance use disorders. The organization believes that people affected by addiction deserve the chance to survive an overdose, and emphasizes that Narcan enables breathing and can help save lives.

Enabling Life offers free Narcan for personal use through an online request form and invites people to contact the organization by text. It reports shipping thousands of boxes in 2024, with distribution continuing. Alongside this resource, Enabling Life educates communities about recognizing overdose signs and understanding treatment options for substance abuse. The organization also advocates for community-wide action to prevent overdose deaths and encourage compassionate responses to people experiencing substance use disorders. Through accessible harm reduction tools, public education, and stigma reduction, Enabling Life works to help communities respond to overdoses and support efforts to save lives wherever and whenever possible.
