The European North Basketball League (ENBL) is a professional men's basketball league that was founded in the summer of 2021. It brings together top clubs from Northern, Central, and Eastern Europe who are seeking to compete at a high international level. The league's inaugural season featured eight teams, including national medalists from Poland, Czech Republic, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Belarus, and Russia, all of whom have extensive regional and international experience.

The first season followed a round-robin tournament format, with seven games split into three stages. This exciting competition culminated in the Final Four, held in Wloclawek, Poland. The league also had a break during FIBA international windows to accommodate national team commitments.

Building on the success of its debut season, ENBL expanded to 15 teams in the second season. Four clubs from the previous season remained, and 13 additional teams applied for participation. The league adopted a format where the 15 teams were divided into two groups, with the top four teams from each group advancing to the playoffs.

ENBL draws inspiration from successful basketball leagues such as the European Youth Basketball league (founded in 1998) and the European Women's Basketball league (EWBL). The EWBL has gained recognition from the International Basketball Federation and has grown to include 16 teams. With its commitment to showcasing the best basketball talent from the European North region, the European North Basketball League is on its way to becoming a prestigious platform for basketball excellence
