About European Network of Cultural Centres
The European Network of Cultural Centres (ENCC) is a dynamic and influential organization that brings together over 3,000 cultural venues across 27 countries in Europe. Established in 1994, the ENCC is dedicated to empowering cultural centres and their communities through an array of programmes and activities. As a network of networks, the ENCC fosters dialogue and cooperation between social-oriented cultural centres, local networks, individual organizations, and professionals at both the national and international level.
The organization operates under the guidance of a distinguished Board and a dedicated Coordination office team. The ENCC's main focus areas are capacity building, networking, and advocacy. Their work includes organizing meetings, conferences, trainings, and staff exchanges, as well as participating in research and data-gathering initiatives.
They also create valuable tools and publications, while facilitating connections between their members and other cultural sector actors. The key values of the ENCC are cultural equality, interculturalism, cultural democratisation, and active citizenship through participation in cultural activities. Their objectives include strengthening national networks of cultural centres, supporting the professionalization of cultural centres and their staff, and fostering cooperation and networking between cultural organizations in rural areas.
With a diverse membership comprising national and regional networks, urban and rural/local networks, individual cultural centres, and associate members, the ENCC is a vibrant and inclusive community of cultural practitioners working towards a thriving cultural sector in Europe
