Encuentros – Jesuit Service for Migrants (Encuentros SJM) is a Peruvian organization that assists and protects refugees, asylum seekers, and migrants in vulnerable situations. Since 2011, it has worked to accompany, serve, and defend people experiencing forced mobility who need international protection, while supporting their integration in Peru. Its work is guided by a commitment to building a more just and inclusive intercultural society.
The organization connects people with community services and promotes sustainable assistance and integration. Its social protection work takes a human rights-based approach that considers age, gender, and diversity, and supports individuals in overcoming adversity. Through its livelihoods program, Encuentros helps refugees and migrants develop skills and pursue durable solutions. It also provides legal guidance and advocacy to promote respect for their rights. The Pedro Arrupe, SJ Legal Clinic for Migrants and Refugees, established in 2017 with the Antonio Ruiz de Montoya University, offers specialized legal support.
Encuentros operates in Lima, Tumbes, Arequipa, and Tacna.
