About California Endive
California Endive is a brand dedicated to producing the highest quality red and white endives, both conventional and organic. As the only major grower in America, they take immense pride in their year-round production and their 2-stage growing process. First, chicory seeds are sown in the spring, resulting in a root the size of a large carrot by fall.
These roots are then harvested and placed in dark, humid forcing rooms to produce endives. Surprisingly, endive is actually the second growth of a chicory root! Endive is a versatile vegetable that adds a delightful, slightly bitter flavor and crunchy texture to salads and appetizers. When cooked, it offers a subtle yet sophisticated taste to entrees and soups.
California Endive also provides wine pairing suggestions to enhance the enjoyment of their seasonal, delicious endive recipes. The story behind California Endive Farms is one of humble beginnings, starting in 1983 as the brainchild of founder Rich Collins. It all began when he worked as a dishwasher in a French restaurant and later traveled to Europe to learn about growing techniques.
With its low calorie content and abundance of vitamins and minerals, California endive is not only nutritious but also a delicious choice for your diet. Explore their website for recipes, nutrition information, and where to buy their premium endive products
