Women's Shelters Canada

Women’s Shelters Canada (WSC) is the national sectoral voice on intimate partner and gender-based violence in Canada. The organization supports the shelters and transition houses that serve women, children, and gender-diverse people experiencing violence. Its work brings organizations together, develops and shares knowledge, and advocates for the policies, funding, and partnerships needed to advance safety and equity.

WSC connects shelter providers and frontline workers with practical resources, training, research, and opportunities to learn from one another. Its initiatives include ShelterSafe.ca, an online tool that helps people find a nearby shelter, and TechSafety.ca, which equips shelter workers to respond to technology-facilitated gender-based violence. The organization also supports second-stage transitional housing development, offers funding opportunities, and conducts national research on shelter conditions and survivor needs. Through publications, campaigns, webinars, and policy engagement, WSC raises awareness and advances solutions to challenges such as underfunding and limited access to affordable housing.
