Samso Energy Academy

Samsø Energy Academy is a knowledge and learning hub focused on the consequences of climate change and the practical work of sustainable transition. Based on Samsø, Denmark, it draws on the island’s experience of developing renewable energy systems through local collaboration and investment. The academy shares knowledge about energy, climate planning, resource reuse, community action and locally grounded solutions, helping turn ideas into initiatives.

Its services include teaching, courses, workshops, study tours and learning programmes for people interested in sustainable transformation, energy and community development. The academy also undertakes and presents projects, publishes articles and other materials, and offers films, podcasts and resources that document local experiments and wider learning. Its work spans themes such as reducing dependence on fossil fuels, improving energy use, developing climate plans and encouraging civic participation. Samsø’s transition has involved wind, solar and biomass, and the academy continues to explore how communities can build on available resources and technical possibilities.
