Énergir

Énergir Urban Heating and Cooling is a Quebec-based company and subsidiary of Énergir, with more than 75 years of experience in district energy networks. Founded in 1947, it operates one of Canada’s largest urban energy distribution systems, serving buildings primarily in downtown Montreal. Its underground infrastructure includes three separate networks that deliver hot water, steam, and cooling. Together, these systems supply energy to nearly two million square metres of building space, comparable to the needs of a city of 35,000 people.

The company provides heating and cooling services through long-term contracts tailored to clients’ needs. Its optimized, modern facilities use different energy sources to support reliable service and competitive operating costs. Énergir Urban Heating and Cooling also undertakes energy-efficiency projects and is increasingly incorporating renewable sources, including solar energy, biofuel, and renewable natural gas. These initiatives aim to help clients reduce greenhouse gas emissions while meeting their buildings’ energy needs.
