Energy Swaraj Foundation (ESF) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to establishing Energy Swaraj or Energy Self-rule across the world. The foundation believes that excessive use of fossil energy has led to environmental degradation and climate change. Their solution lies in switching to clean and sustainable energy, like solar and renewable energy, through two fundamental principles: limiting consumption and localizing production.

ESF aims to create a public movement for mitigating climate change by raising awareness and encouraging individuals to adopt solar or renewable energy. They have set two targets to be achieved by 2030: impart energy literacy to over 1 billion people and encourage 10 million households to switch 100% to solar energy. To achieve these targets, they advocate the AMG (Avoid-Minimize-Generate) approach, which emphasizes avoiding and minimizing energy use before generating the remaining energy locally using renewable sources.

The foundation was launched on August 15, 2019, with the objective of establishing Energy Swaraj as a global movement. Led by renowned solar scientist Prof. Chetan Singh Solanki, the foundation combines science, innovation, and Gandhian principles to create a sustainable future through energy independence
