Enfield Karate Club provides traditional karate training for children and adults in Enfield, welcoming beginners and experienced practitioners alike. The club follows Shotokan traditions and teaches Seishin-Ryu, a style whose name means “the style of pure spirit.” Its approach combines physical techniques, including strikes, stances and kata, with the development of self-control, respect, perseverance and character.
Children’s classes are available for ages 7 to 16 in a structured, supportive setting. Training encourages fitness, confidence, discipline, responsibility and peaceful conflict resolution. Adult classes are open to men and women of all ages and experience levels, with an emphasis on traditional karate, physical conditioning and personal development. The club does not accept children under seven.
Instruction is led by experienced teachers, including Sensei Paul Shephard, a 7th Dan and former J.S.K. champion in kumite and kata, and Sensei Richard Forster, a 5th Dan. With more than three decades of teaching experience, the club offers regular Wednesday and Saturday sessions, including advanced training, at its Honbu Dojo on Lancaster Road, Enfield.
