The English Disabled Fly Fishers Association (EDFF) is a registered charity that promotes fly fishing for disabled people, welcoming anglers of all abilities. Founded in 1980 after an international fishing match brought together disabled anglers from England, Scotland and Wales, the association later helped establish an annual competition involving Ireland, hosted in turn by each country. Its mission is to make fly fishing accessible for recreation and competition, while encouraging disabled and able-bodied anglers to participate together.
EDFF organises club days, events and international competitions, creating opportunities to fish, build friendships and enjoy time outdoors. The association reports holding around nine events each year and has 68 members. Able-bodied associate members provide assistance to anglers with limited mobility, helping make visits more accessible and enjoyable. Rutland Waters is now recognised as the association’s home water, and members also visit local stillwater trout fisheries. EDFF shares news about its activities and works with sponsors and affiliates to support its programmes.
