ENSATT, the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts et Techniques du Théâtre, is one of France’s eleven national theatre schools. Bringing ten theatre and stage professions together under one roof, it trains students for the contemporary performing arts through practical, creative and technical programmes. Its courses cover acting, live performance administration, costume workshops and design, lighting and sound design, technical direction, playwriting, directing and scenography. The school also offers a complementary diploma, continuing professional development and validation of prior experience, alongside research and international projects.
Learning is connected to artistic practice through student productions, workshops, collaborations and events, including cabaret and costume projects. ENSATT provides information and support for prospective students, including competitive entrance examinations, application resources and guidance on professional integration. Current students can access resources covering scholarships, health, accessibility, internships and opportunities to study abroad. For theatre professionals, the school runs short courses in administration, technical direction, costume, lighting, sound and scenography.
