Global Entomology Coalition

The Global Entomology Coalition is a nonprofit organization dedicated to discovering insect diversity, advancing conservation, and changing how people understand insects. Its work combines research with public participation, reflecting the belief that insects are essential to environmental research and conservation and that species must be identified to be protected. The Coalition launches research projects, surveys countries, documents insect records, and supports the discovery and naming of new species and genera. It also connects taxonomists through a network and offers education programs, public research expeditions, and opportunities to join fieldwork, including the Great Insect Quest.

People can contribute through membership, volunteering, becoming an ambassador, adopting an insect, naming a new species, or supporting the organization with donations, equipment, donor-advised funds, and corporate sponsorships. The Coalition reports research and engagement activity since 2025, including projects launched, species described, countries surveyed, and volunteer hours. Looking toward 2030, it aims to describe 200 new species, involve more people in entomology, add species to conservation plans, establish long-term monitoring sites, and launch a public insect discovery center.
