Environment Prize

The Volvo Environment Prize, established in 1990, has become a premier accolade in the scientific community for recognizing outstanding contributions in the fields of environmental and sustainability studies. This prestigious award is granted annually by an independent foundation, highlighting the work of laureates who demonstrate exceptional commitment to addressing global ecological challenges. Each recipient is selected by an esteemed Prize Jury composed of internationally recognized scientists, following a rigorous evaluation by a dedicated Scientific Committee.

The prize package includes a handcrafted diploma, a stunning glass sculpture, and a significant cash award of SEK 1.5 million (approximately EUR 135,000 or USD 140,000). The award ceremony takes place each November in either Stockholm or Gothenburg, Sweden, celebrating the achievements of groundbreaking environmental research. The Volvo Environment Prize aims not only to honor past achievements but also to inspire future innovations in sustainability. Nominations for the upcoming 2024 award are currently open, inviting outstanding candidates to be recognized for their impactful work.
