EPLEKARTEN

Eplekarten Steinerbarnehage is a four-department early childhood centre in Øvre Sædal, Norway, near Helgeseter farm. Its educational approach is based on Steiner pedagogy, with play holding a central place and valued for its own sake. The kindergarten aims to foster trust and joy in an inspiring community, and incorporates all educational subject areas throughout its programme.

Children spend time in the centre’s varied outdoor area and are close to both nature and farm life. The kindergarten is screen-free and has its own vegetable garden, supporting experiences with gardening and outdoor living. Meals are prepared from scratch using quality organic ingredients, and children can take part in food preparation, including chopping, grating and shaping rolls.

Eplekarten pays attention to the quality and materials of its toys; almost all are made from natural materials, leaving room for children’s imagination. The organisation shares information for families through practical details, an annual plan, a calendar, application guidance and resources such as recipes, songs, stories, games and verses.
