The primary purpose of the EPN is to provide access to the European Terrestrial Reference System 89 (ETRS89) which is the standard precise GNSS coordinate system throughout Europe. Supported by EuroGeographics and endorsed by the INSPIRE Directive 2007/2/EC, the ETRS89 forms the backbone for geolocation data on the European territory, both on a national as on an international level.

About GNSS@ROB
The EUREF Permanent Network (EPN) is a collaborative initiative comprising over 100 self-funding agencies, universities, and research institutions across more than 30 European countries. Established to maintain the European Terrestrial Reference System (ETRS89), the EPN plays a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and interoperability of spatial data as mandated by the European Commission. With a network of over 200 permanent GNSS observing stations, EPN provides vital data for both static and kinematic spatial referencing, facilitating applications in diverse fields such as ground deformation monitoring, sea level assessment, and weather predictions.
EPN offers a comprehensive range of products and services, including high-rate GNSS data, reference frame products, coordinate transformation web services, and post-processed solutions. To adapt to evolving user needs, the EPN continually develops new applications and engages in pilot projects. By making precise ETRS89 coordinates and GNSS observation data publicly accessible, the EPN supports researchers and governmental bodies in various scientific and practical endeavors throughout Europe.
