EquiBridge Community Health Initiative (EB-CHI) is a youth-led public health organization working alongside communities — not just for them — to close persistent gaps in healthcare access, health information, and preventive care across Nigeria, with a long-term vision of strengthening health systems across Africa. We were founded to address a simple, urgent problem: too many young people, women, and underserved communities still lack the information, support, and resources to make informed health decisions or access care when they need it. So we co-create solutions with the communities we serve — combining outreach, screenings, health education, and referral systems to turn awareness into action. Our focus areas include sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), maternal and child health, antimicrobial resistance (AMR), mental health, and non-communicable diseases (NCDs) — priorities that are often underfunded and overlooked. Because health doesn’t exist in isolation, we also integrate education, gender equality, climate resilience, and youth leadership into our work, using health as the entry point for lasting, community-led change.

EquiBridge Community Health Initiative is a youth-led nonprofit working to improve health equity and access to trusted health information and preventive care in underserved communities across Nigeria. The organisation partners with communities to identify local needs and develop practical, evidence-informed public health solutions, guided by principles of inclusion, accountability, collaboration and community leadership.
Its programmes address public health and community wellbeing, including HIV and hepatitis education and screening, sexual and reproductive health, maternal and child health, and prevention of noncommunicable diseases. EquiBridge also promotes mental health literacy and psychosocial wellbeing, supports gender equality and social inclusion, and advances youth leadership through volunteering, peer education, advocacy and mentorship. Its work includes health education, community outreach, digital health communication, screenings, referrals and links to further care, alongside training, research, partnerships and climate-health awareness.
The initiative aims to strengthen health knowledge, improve connections to services and build local capacity. A featured outreach reached more than 138 students with health education, confidential counselling and free HIV and hepatitis screening.
