Equifree

Equifree is a horse-focused business in Gråsten, Denmark, founded by Machteld den Teuling and Léon Bleijerveld, who moved from the Netherlands to Denmark in 2003. Their work is guided by a commitment to freedom and natural behaviour for horses. Rather than keeping horses in individual stalls, Equifree uses a loose-housing system with access to fields and indoor shelter, allowing them to move, rest and interact more freely.

The founders bring extensive experience with horses, including riding, training and carriage driving. Equifree offers riding instruction and vaulting, horse starting and problem-solving, boarding, horse-drawn carriage rides and trail rides. Activities also include children’s birthday parties, stag or hen parties, company events and archery from horseback. The business also features a farm school, horse information, a gallery and other animals. Equifree’s approach reflects its belief that horses benefit from space and regular movement, supporting their wellbeing while people learn, ride and enjoy activities with them.
