EQUITA

EQUITA is a Slovak civic association working to make professional healthcare and social support more accessible to people facing exclusion, poverty or humanitarian crises. Its services support vulnerable communities across Slovakia, including people experiencing homelessness, refugees from Ukraine and people from marginalised communities. EQUITA provides health consultations in the field and in communities, helps clients connect with specialist care, and offers case management, psychosocial support, information and practical assistance.

Its work also includes responding to emergencies, supporting people affected by gender-based violence, and coordinating referrals to health, social and legal services through partner organisations. The association trains healthcare professionals and others in contact with vulnerable people, conducts research, and uses field data to inform advocacy for equitable access to healthcare. EQUITA also develops multidisciplinary outreach approaches that coordinate support around clients’ individual needs.

Its activities include a help line and community-based services, as well as plans for a general medical practice designed to reduce social, administrative and language barriers to primary care
