Equiterma

Equiterma provides diagnostic thermal imaging for animals, with a focus on helping horse owners and professionals investigate wellbeing and musculoskeletal concerns. Based in Nummela, in Finland’s West Uusimaa region, the business offers imaging to support preventive care, veterinary assessment, treatment monitoring and a horse’s return to activity. Thermal imaging can reveal changes in circulation, muscles, tendons, joints and the nervous system by showing patterns in surface temperature. The examinations are non-invasive, involve no radiation exposure and do not require a doping stand-down period.

Services include broad thermal imaging assessments for unexplained symptoms, check-ups and pre-purchase examinations; focused follow-up imaging to assess an affected area, treatment effects and recovery; and movement-based imaging for investigating chronic or hidden problems. Equiterma also offers fascial-line analysis to help illustrate movement and restrictions. Reports can support veterinarians alongside other examinations. The service is delivered by Elina Kostiainen, a trained animal diagnostic thermal imager, using Thermidas equipment. Her approach draws on physiotherapy, movement-chain analysis and an understanding of athletic performance.
