About The Equity Initiative
The Equity Initiative is a fellowship program dedicated to nurturing the development of health equity leaders in Southeast Asia and China. Launched in 2016, the Equity Initiative Fellowship, also known as the Atlantic Fellows for Health Equity in Southeast Asia, aims to nurture and facilitate the growth of health equity leaders over a span of 20 years, with a goal of reaching 500+ leaders. The program is affiliated with global and regional institutions and partners, offering access to world-class expertise and knowledge.
Backed by a pooled fund from the China Medical Board and The Atlantic Philanthropies, the Equity Initiative has a long-term vision for advancing health equity and receives sustained support. The program works towards a fairer, healthier, and more equitable Southeast Asia and China. Through its induction year Fellowship program, the Equity Initiative builds a community of transformative agents across sectors, disciplines, and cultures.
With a commitment to addressing the root causes of regional inequities and injustices, the initiative also supports communities of practice to collaborate and bring about systems change for health equity
