About ERA
ERA is a Nigerian advocacy non-governmental organization that focuses on the defense of human ecosystems and environmental human rights issues. As the Nigerian chapter of Friends of the Earth International, ERA works to protect the environment and democratize development. They challenge the current model of economic and corporate globalization and advocate for climate justice, energy sustainability, corporate accountability, democracy outreach, food sovereignty, and forest and biodiversity conservation.
ERA actively addresses environmental issues in Nigeria, such as oil spills. In 2018 and 2019 alone, the National Oil Spills Detection and Response Agency recorded 1,300 oil spills in Nigeria, averaging 5 spills per day. By raising awareness and taking action, ERA aims to combat humanity's dependence on fossil fuels and transition to a more sustainable energy trajectory.
