The project follows a journey from Vanilla through The Burning Crusade to Wrath of the Lich King, with content opening in stages, from classic raids to later expansions. Players can choose their preferred leveling pace, either progressing at the original speed or selecting a faster option.

The server’s roadmap includes familiar dungeons, raids, and world events, with future phases planned for all three eras. eraWOW invites its community to take part in discussions about the server’s direction and development. Getting started involves registering an account, downloading the game client from the website, and logging in to play; the site also provides news, statistics, forum access, and a Discord community. The project describes play as free and accepts donations to help cover hosting and support ongoing development. eraWOW presents itself as an independent community project and states that it is not affiliated with Blizzard Entertainment.
