Het Erfocentrum is het Nationaal informatiecentrum erfelijkheid. We informeren mensen over erfelijkheid en gezondheid. Er wordt steeds meer bekend over de rol van erfelijke factoren bij ziekte en gezondheid. Van duizenden ziektes is inmiddels bekend dat erfelijke aanleg een belangrijke rol speelt bij het ontstaan van de ziekte, en dat aantal blijft groeien. Het Erfocentrum biedt onafhankelijke informatie aan het algemene publiek, patiënten en zorgprofessionals. Dat doen wij via websites, filmpjes, keuzehulpen en brochures. Via de Erfolijn ([email protected]) beantwoorden we vragen over erfelijkheid. Ons werk wordt gefinancierd door het Ministerie van Volksgezondheid, Welzijn en Sport en door de afdelingen Klinische Genetica van de academische ziekenhuizen. Daarnaast nemen we actief deel aan projecten die worden gefinancierd uit publieke fondsen.
