Ergón USM is more than just a solar car brand; it is a community with a strong social focus. Their mission is to educate people about renewable energy and electromobility through talks, presentations, and workshops at various events and schools. The brand's story dates back to 2011 when a group of companions from the Technical University Federico Santa María built their first solar car, Ergón 1. This vehicle gained national recognition for being the first in the country made of carbon fiber and featuring a double wing, a first in the world. They later participated in the Atacama Solar Race, achieving a remarkable 6th place and winning the LAN prize for the most aerodynamic vehicle.

In 2014, they built Ergón 2 with the collaboration of ASMAR, introducing the use of carbon fiber infusion technology. It participated in the Atacama Solar Race and secured the 5th place. However, the project was neglected until 2017, when it was revived with new research focuses and social aspects.

Currently, Ergón is working on Ergón 3, their next vehicle that will compete in the Atacama Solar Race 2020. They also actively exhibit Ergón 2 at various talks, workshops, and events, providing an opportunity for everyone interested to learn about renewable energy, electromobility, and the functioning of a solar car. The team is composed of around 30 students from the Technical University Federico Santa María, mainly from Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, and Industrial Engineering.
