Eric Mahieu

Eric Mahieu is a nature storyteller and environmental advocate based in Kamperland, Zeeland, whose work highlights the importance and wonder of biodiversity. He shares stories about bees and other pollinators, flowering hedgerows, wildlife in the air and soil, and life in rivers and waters. His approach combines enthusiasm for nature with an honest account of the challenges facing ecosystems and the practical work needed to protect them.

Professionally, Mahieu is Program Manager for Delta Waters at the Zeeland Environmental Federation, working with others toward an ecologically resilient delta that leaves room for nature, with particular attention to rivers and the people connected to them. He also volunteers with Landscape Management Zeeland, chairs the Bevelanden Beekeepers Association, serves on the membership committee of Natuurmonumenten, and supports the Wasp Foundation.

As a beekeeper, he gives talks about bees and wasps and shares engaging stories with audiences. His writing and perspectives appear on social media and in a weekly radio column for Omroep Zeeland.
