Erik Fokkens Illustrations is the professional art practice of Dutch background artist Erik Fokkens, who creates environments and visual artwork for the animation and game industries. Since beginning his career at Don Bluth Studios in Dublin in 1993, Fokkens has developed a strong foundation in traditional painting and later transitioned to digital techniques. His work focuses on atmosphere, lighting, mood, contrast and visual effects, with experience spanning more than 20 animated films and television series, as well as book covers, comics and video games.

The portfolio features production background art, personal artwork and classical-style backgrounds, including painted environments inspired by animated films. Fokkens also works with TEB, The European Backgroundteam, a group of professional background painters serving the worldwide animation industry. Its offerings include establishing shots, colour keys, production backgrounds and mood or colour boards. Through his online shop, Fokkens sells pieces from his personal collection and selected collector items.
