Erlebnishof-Gerhardsbrunn

Erlebnishof Gerhardsbrunn is a German animal welfare and educational organisation founded in 2020 by Janne Bach and veterinarian Ingmar Meth. The farm cares for around 400 rescued animals across 13 species, including cats, dogs, rabbits, farm animals, horses and donkeys. Its work combines a sanctuary for animals who remain for life with a shelter-like service that provides care and finds suitable homes for animals available for adoption. In 2025, the organisation reports placing hundreds of dogs, cats and small animals in new homes, while also helping stray cats through neutering, identification and medical treatment.

The farm raises awareness of animal welfare through hands-on experiences and educational programmes. Offerings include donkey walks, children’s birthday parties, activities for schools and childcare groups, raccoon meet-and-greets, dog yoga, holiday camps and tailored group visits. Social partnerships support inclusive, animal-assisted experiences. The project is funded in part through donations, sponsorships and its activities. Visits are available by appointment rather than on a walk-in basis.
