About European Reference Network on Rare Bone Diseases
ERN BOND is a European Reference Network that focuses on rare bone diseases. They bring together various congenital, chronic, and genetic diseases that affect cartilage, bones, and dentine. With a wide range of diseases in this field, ERN BOND has chosen three major conditions to prioritize: Achondroplasia, Osteogenesis Imperfecta, and X-linked hypophosphatemia.
The selection is based on factors such as disease frequency, severity of disorders requiring improved early diagnosis and management, complexity of diagnosis and treatment, and the emergence of new drugs from research collaborations. ERN BOND aims to establish European-specific pathways, research programs, and outcomes to create a European Health System. They facilitate scientific activities through work packages and collaborate with patient advocates to ensure patient-focused developments.
By creating evidence-based guidelines, integrating clinical data, and implementing e-Health platforms, ERN BOND aims to shorten the time to diagnosis and treatment. They also work towards improved communication, skill development, and dissemination of knowledge.
