About ESAFF Uganda
ESAFF Uganda | Kampala is a prominent brand that aims to empower and support small-scale farmers in Eastern and Southern Africa. Established during the World Summit on Sustainable Development in 2002, ESAFF was created as a forum to bring together small-scale farmers and shape agriculture policies and practices on a global, regional, and local scale. ESAFF Uganda, which commenced operations in 2008, has emerged as the largest small-scale farmer-led advocacy movement in the country.
ESAFF Uganda strives to enhance the decision-making abilities of small-scale farmers and actively involve them in development processes. With a membership of over 12,588 small-scale farmer community organizations in 54 districts, ESAFF Uganda represents more than 765,560 individual small-scale farmers, with women comprising 67 percent of the membership. Additionally, ESAFF Uganda is part of a broader network of small-scale farmers across 15 other countries in Eastern and Southern Africa.
The brand's vision is to empower and create self-reliant small-scale farmers, especially women, while their mission is to nurture small-scale farmers' participation in sustainable development processes through advocacy, capacity building, and institutional development. ESAFF Uganda is dedicated to promoting improved livelihoods, food sovereignty, and favorable agriculture policies, ensuring that small-scale farmers have a voice and representation at all levels
