Escuela de Pacientes

Escuela de Pacientes is a health education initiative of the Andalusian regional government’s Department of Health and Families. It provides information and learning resources to help people living with chronic conditions, their families and caregivers better understand health needs and participate in care. Its materials cover a wide range of topics, including cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular and kidney disease, ostomies, fibromyalgia, mental health, respiratory and neurological conditions, food allergies, and care and autonomy. The initiative also addresses broader health topics such as physical activity, nutrition, wellbeing, sexuality and patient safety.

Resources include practical guides, videos, podcasts, blogs, a library, apps, newsletters and virtual learning materials. Escuela de Pacientes also offers workshops, online classes and open educational sessions, alongside conferences and events featuring health professionals, researchers and people with lived experience. Patient-to-patient content encourages learning through shared experience, while dedicated information supports people affected by COVID-19. Through these services, the initiative makes health education accessible and relevant to patients and those who support them.
