Associação Comunitária Monte Azul

Associação Comunitária Monte Azul is a community-based organization founded in 1979 to improve living conditions and expand opportunities for residents of the Monte Azul community in São Paulo. Its work began with local residents and supporters organizing to address inadequate housing and limited access to sanitation, electricity, education, health care, and social assistance. Through community efforts and engagement with public authorities, essential improvements to the neighborhood’s infrastructure took shape.

Alongside this work, the Association developed services for children, families, and other community members. Early initiatives included a community center offering activities for children and a medical and therapeutic clinic providing consultations and support for expectant mothers. Today, its programs and projects are supported by public authorities, businesses, foundations, and individual donors, and are guided by principles drawn from anthroposophy and Waldorf education. The organization responds to evolving community needs, including health, professional development, culture, healthy food, and meaningful participation in society.
