Espaço Talassa is a whale-watching and nature tourism company based in Lajes do Pico, in the Azores. Operating since 1989, it combines guided sea trips with education, conservation and research, supported by expert guides, a lookout system and records of 28 cetacean species. Visitors can choose from whale- and dolphin-watching excursions, themed whale-week packages, full-day trips to São Jorge Island, and combinations of walking, talks and wildlife experiences. Espaço Talassa provides accommodation options, from its whale-watching base to guesthouses and traditional island homes. Free weekday talks introduce visitors to whales, biology and related topics. The company promotes responsible travel and supports tree planting and a biological micro-reserve project in collaboration with the environmental association Quercus, contributing toward ecological restoration and offsetting some emissions associated with its whale-watching activity.
