About Espere Counseling
Espere Community Counseling Center is a mental health counseling center located in Thomassin, Haiti. Our mission is dedicated to strengthening global mental health for individuals, families, and communities. We provide a range of services, including psychosocial education, support, and awareness to foster hope and peace of mind.
Our team of Haitian mental health professionals is committed to inclusiveness, integrity, quality, and collaboration. Our story began when our founder, Erika Childs Charles, came to Haiti after completing a graduate degree in International Disaster Psychology. Recognizing the need for mental health services, Erika and a team of Haitian psychologists, social workers, and university students started Espere Community Counseling Center in Petionville in 2014.
Today, we offer various mental health and psychosocial support programs in Haiti and Mexico, working with local and international organizations. We receive support from individual donors who believe in equitable global mental health access.
