About Ethical Journalism Network
The Ethical Journalism Network (EJN) is a registered charity in England and Wales that works to strengthen journalism and promote high ethical standards in the media for public benefit. Its mission is grounded in five principles: truth and accuracy, independence, fairness and impartiality, humanity, and accountability. The network supports journalists and media organisations through education, training, and the publication of practical research and resources.
EJN’s work addresses issues affecting journalism across regions and communities. Its projects cover topics including hate speech, media and migration, accountable journalism, codes of ethics, self-regulation, and media audits. The organisation also develops guidance and toolkits for reporting on subjects such as migration and labour markets, and publishes research on challenges including newsroom racism, conflict reporting, and open-source analysis. Its resources include articles, reports, infographics, podcasts, videos, and presentations.
Through news, events, training, and international initiatives, EJN promotes ethical practice and public trust in journalism. It invites supporters to contribute to its work helping journalists around the world uphold professional standards.
