Etnomusikologista

The Finnish Society for Ethnomusicology (Suomen etnomusikologinen seura, SES) is a Finnish scholarly association dedicated to advancing ethnomusicological research and sharing knowledge about music cultures around the world. It supports researchers, students and others interested in music studies through publications, events, awards and opportunities for professional exchange.

SES publishes the Yearbook of Ethnomusicology, a peer-reviewed, open-access music research publication featuring scholarly articles and other contributions. The society also organizes publication awards recognizing work in categories such as books, articles and student articles, and collaborates with the Finnish Society for Musicology on an annual award for outstanding master’s theses in music research. Its activities include meetings, reading groups, conferences and calls for papers, including events organized with partners in the Nordic and Baltic region. SES also provides information about membership and maintains a communication list for members. By connecting scholarly publishing, research recognition and community activities, the society helps promote ethnomusicology and make research on diverse musical practices more accessible in Finland and beyond.
