EUCLOCK

EUCLOCK is a prominent European research network that began in January 2006, focusing on the intricate study of circadian clocks across diverse organisms, from unicellular life forms to humans. With a budget exceeding 16 million euros—primarily funded by the European Union—EUCLOCK harnesses the collective expertise of 34 chronobiology specialists from 29 institutions across 11 European countries. The network investigates how circadian rhythms are entrained by environmental factors known as 'zeitgebers', and the impacts of these rhythms on behavior, physiology, and biochemistry.

EUCLOCK's research spans four key projects: investigating human, mouse, and fly rhythms as well as identifying novel clock genes. The initiative also focuses on developing innovative methodologies for non-invasive research in human entrainment and creating animal models to study shift-work effects, aiming to mitigate its adverse impacts. Additionally, EUCLOCK supports a centralized database called EUCLIS, fostering collaboration within the global chronobiology community and integrating diverse research data. Through these efforts, EUCLOCK aims to revolutionize the field of circadian research and its applications.
