About EUCPN
The EUCPN (European Crime Prevention Network) is a leading organization dedicated to promoting crime prevention knowledge and practices among EU Member States. Established in 2001 by Council Decision (2001/427/JHA) and later replaced in 2009 (2009/902/JHA), the EUCPN aims to connect local, national, and European levels to create effective crime prevention strategies.
As a point of reference for practitioners and policymakers at various levels, the EUCPN disseminates qualitative knowledge on crime prevention and supports activities at national and local levels. The organization also actively contributes to EU policy and strategy on crime prevention and engages with relevant EU and international agencies, organizations, and working groups.
The EUCPN expands its database through ongoing research, developing crime prevention campaigns, and generating various outputs such as toolboxes, policy papers, newsletters, and monitors. The network organizes meetings and workshops with experts, stakeholders, and Crime Prevention Councils to foster collaboration and knowledge exchange.
Supported by a dedicated Secretariat based in Brussels, the EUCPN collaborates with academic researchers, experts, and network members to bridge the gap between scientific research, policymaking, and local practice. Funding for the EUCPN comes from Member States and EU financial programs such as the ISF (Internal Security Fund) and Horizon 2020.
