EUMETSAT

EUMETSAT, the European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites, is a premier intergovernmental agency based in Darmstadt, Germany. Founded in 1986 and comprising 30 member states, EUMETSAT specializes in monitoring weather, climate, and environmental conditions via advanced satellite technology. The agency operates a range of satellites, including the Meteosat series for geostationary observation over Europe and Africa, and the Metop polar-orbiting satellites, in collaboration with the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

EUMETSAT plays a critical role in weather forecasting and climate monitoring, contributing valuable data essential for understanding environmental changes. As a partner in the Copernicus program, EUMETSAT utilizes the Sentinel missions for comprehensive monitoring of the atmosphere and oceans. Additionally, the organization collaborates with satellite operators globally, enhancing its capability to support weather and climate research. Through these efforts, EUMETSAT is dedicated to delivering high-quality data and products that ensure effective environmental observation and management across Europe and beyond.
